Samus Aran

Samus Aran, the protagonist from the Metroid series.

Samus is probably one of my favorite Heros in any video game I have ever played. It's nothing to do with the fact she's a woman. When you think of Samus, you think of the suit. The suit takes on its own persona, and becomes Samus. Samus and the suit are one entity. You cannot separate the two. She's similar in a way to Tony Stark in the sense that when he dawns the suit, he becomes Iron Man, but he is still Tony. However, when you think of Tony Stark, you automatically picture the suit. It is not just armour that the two characters wear; it becomes a second skin, an extension of themselves and becomes part of them in both literal and figurative ways.

The story of the games themselves are fascinating. My favorite game in the series is Metroid Prime. You can really enjoy your surroundings in the game and take your time with it. At the same time, the boss battles in the game remain to this day some of the most intense battles I have experienced, though this may be nostalgia talking. It is one of the few games growing up that gave me nightmares; those metroids landing on your face were almost as bad as face huggers from Aliens. I highly recommend you look up the concept art for the game; its some of the most beautiful work I have ever seen and hope to emulate some day.
